Carolyn Messier, RYT

What began as a single yoga class in 2002 has blossomed into a passion for spreading health, happiness and wellness across many miles and to many people.  Carolyn completed her hatha yoga teacher training in Austin, Texas and was granted the opportunity to study under some of the most highly conscious and veteran teachers, all devoted to the art of yoga.  Carolyn’s teaching style can be described as a unique blend of Viniyoga and Iyengar techniques with an emphasis on movement linked with breath, meditation and guided imagery to establish presence and the mind-body connection.  She is a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance.

She now lives in Santa Monica, California and teaches in and around the Los Angeles area, working with individuals who have a variety of physical, mental and emotional conditions.  What makes Carolyn’s style unique is her focus on the therapeutic aspect of yoga and tailoring each session to the individual’s specific needs.  In doing this, Carolyn takes medical and other considerations into account and designs a custom-made yoga practice, focused on safely addressing injuries and improving overall health.  She has worked successfully with many people who have conditions such as upper and low back pain, anxiety, depression, digestive problems, poor balance and pre- and post-natal women and couples.  She also enjoys working with people who are considered to be highly sensitive, meaning they differ from the other roughly 80% of the population in their sensitive processing of subtle stimuli.  A highly sensitive person herself, Carolyn is a gentle, yet empowering teacher and creates a safe place for wellness to bloom.
